The Finishing Touch Team are extremely proud and  very excited to be finalists for the title of  ‘Best UK Beauty Salon Employers for 2013′ in the  upcoming prestigious Professional Beauty Awards

Owner and Director, Susan Routledge said ‘ We have a fabulous long established team and are honoured to say we are finalists in the awards, when we know there are so many great salons throughout the UK.

We are up against a team from Scotland, another from Ireland and also our great friends from City Retreat in Newcastle but we will all be cheering each other on on the night.  This year is our 25th Anniversary, so it will be an extra reason to celebrate during the evening’.

After a final stage of a Dragons Den style pitching to industry experts, the ultimate winner will be announced at a Glittering Awards Evening at the Park Lane Hilton, Mayfair, London on Sunday 24th February.

Finishing Touch won the award of Professional Beauty, UK Best Beauty Salon in 2007 and since then Susan has been an official judge for other categories within the Awards.

Ladies Day Success for Cancer Research UK

200 Ladies attended a Charity Ladies Day held at the Best Western Derwent Manor Hotel in aid of Breast Cancer Research recently. The event was hosted by Finishing Touch Clinic in Consett and local businesses including TLC Clothing, Slimming World and Printing.Com all helped to raise £2’272 from ticket and raffle sales.

Cancer researcher, Dr Zoe Davison gave a talk on the advances in research and chatted personally to ladies on the importance of self-examination and early detection of breast cancer.  Finishing Touch owner, Susan Routledge said “This event was a huge success. All of the businesses involved wanted the Ladies to have a great day but also to raise awareness of the fantastic work done by Cancer Research. We have seen so many of our clients over the years being successfully treated for breast cancer and other cancers due to the amazing advances in research and really fast and effective treatments now available. We wanted to help in any way we could to make the future even brighter for patients benefiting from Cancer Research UK”.

Ladies were treated to a glass of Pimms whilst being entertained with a fashion show, beauty demonstrations and a treasure trail along with gift stalls.

Abby Christie, Cancer Research UK’s area volunteer manager for Durham, Darlington and Teesside said: “Finishing Touch Beauty Clinic are a fantastic example of how local businesses can help support Cancer Research UK. They are an inspiration and we can’t thank them enough for their continued support and dedication”.

“Cancer Research UK has made enormous progress in the fight against cancer. However, we have only been able to do this thanks to the dedication and commitment of our volunteers and supporters without whom we would not be able to fund outstanding scientists, doctors and nurses.”

Professional Beauty Awards 2011

Nicky-Hamilton-Jones-photo

1st February 2012

It is always one of my highlights of the year, judging different categories of The Professional Beauty Awards. It is a great time to get together with other industry experts to knuckle down to find the very best salons, therapists and employers of the year. Standards are always extremely high. This year I was privileged to be also judging with. Nicky Hamilton Jones, presenter of ‘ 10 Years Younger ‘ and many other beauty and fashion related TV programmes. Nicky really got into the spirit of judging. What a lovely lady too.
